Character Line ups
It’s a tool, a check in. I probably take my art process too seriously, But the note taking, the measuring and the reshaping it’s how I work through ideas.
Despite making them often, I wouldn’t say I enjoy them, at least not the process of making them.
I try to avoid using the same features repeatable and having it all laded out in one place makes it easier.
Fan Art
Where do I even start?
Fanart, at least to me is a labor of love for a fictional world. I grew up with Fairly odd Parents and I believe it will always be a part of me. I don’t think it’s perfect in fact I could make a very very long list of all it’s faults, but I enjoy it.
Professor Layton is a good example of a piece of media I like but don’t have a strong attachment to. I adore the character and the visuals, but the actual game play and most of the story doesn’t spark my interest.
Lego Monkie kid is one of the few pieces of media that catches my heart fully. Characters that go beyond love for me, through the sketch of Macaque that I decided to showcase probably doesn’t convey that. You ever love a character so much you give them your issues?
I gave Macaque my chronic migraine. :)
Practice in figures and portraits
I always felt that I enjoy the practice of drawing more then most, There is just some so methodical yet rough about it. Both soothing and frustrating, isn’t that magical?
I am personally more drawn to working on portraits, their is just something so captivating about faces. The more I draw faces of all kinds the more beauty I start to find in them, and now I want to put to paper every face I can.
Going back to the beginning
Flavor Blasting
Redrawing/redesigning an original character I made when I was 9 years old. I still remember the drawing template I mixed and matched to make her.
And here’s the lovely original in all of her glory, unfortunately the only picture there is of her isn’t very clear.
What a fun term that is, Anyway something I always have a good time with is when my other artist friends ask for help on a character design. There is just something about sharing and elaborating on creative decisions that fill me with a unique kind of delight.
